TriMetall® Technology
The secret behind our
superior tool life.

BARKE TriMetall® knives are not ordinary planer knives. Behind their superior performance lies a patented three-layer principle that has set the industry standard for decades.

Three Layers. One Principle.

Each TriMetall® knife consists of three precisely coordinated layers:
  • 1

    Soft Core

The core of the knife is made of soft, easily profileable steel. This allows the knife to be precisely adapted to any planer cutterhead and clamping system — for a perfect fit and vibration-free operation.

  • 2

    HSS-M42 Cutting Edges

The two cutting edges are made of ultra-hardened HSS-M42 steel — a material known in the precision tool industry for its exceptional hardness and wear resistance. The result: significantly longer tool life than conventional knives.

  • 3

    Mirror-polished bevel

The cutting edges receive a special mirror-polished bevel and a polished back bevel. This surface treatment reduces friction during cutting and ensures a visibly cleaner planing finish. No additional grinding is required after the knives are fitted.

2. Hard 24% TriHSS®-M42 Cutting Edge

Innovation for over 70 years.

TriMetall® Technology is the result of decades of research and development. BARKE holds a variety of patents — each one born from our direct dialogue with users in joineries and in industry. We call this practical ingenuity.

See the Difference.

The mirror-polished bevel is not just a technical detail — it is visible on the wood surface. TriMetall® knives deliver a consistently smooth planing finish that requires less rework.
